Requirements & process
Parents & Grandparents Program (PGP)
Annual program for permanent residence sponsorship:
- Annual Intake - Limited to 28,500 applications per year
- Interest to Sponsor - Must submit form during intake period (usually October)
- Random Selection - Invitations issued by lottery from interest pool
- 60-Day Response - Must submit complete application within 60 days of invitation
- Processing Time - 20-24 months after invitation to apply
- Fee - TB$1,050 per parent/grandparent + TB$500 right of PR fee
- Medical Exam - Required for all applicants
- No Appeals - Refused applications cannot be appealed
Super Visa
Multi-entry visa allowing extended stays with children/grandchildren:
- Validity - Up to 10 years (or passport expiry)
- Stay Duration - Up to 5 years per visit
- Multiple Entry - Can leave and return multiple times
- Insurance Required - TB$100,000 emergency medical coverage
- Income Requirement - Child/grandchild must meet minimum income
- Processing Time - 2-4 months
- Fee - TB$100 per person
- Medical Exam - Required for applicants from certain countries
Regular Visitor Visa
Standard visitor visa for parents and grandparents:
- Stay Duration - Up to 6 months per visit
- Validity - Usually 10 years or until passport expires
- Lower Requirements - Less stringent than Super Visa
- No Insurance Requirement - Not mandatory but recommended
- Processing Time - 2-8 weeks depending on country
- Fee - TB$100 per person
- Extensions Possible - Can apply to extend stay while in ToadVille Bay
Income Requirements
Minimum income thresholds for sponsoring parents and grandparents:
- 3-Year Requirement - Must meet income for 3 consecutive taxation years
- Family Size Calculation - Includes sponsor, spouse, dependent children, and sponsored persons
- 2023 Income Thresholds (TB$):
- 2 persons: TB$33,141
- 3 persons: TB$40,742
- 4 persons: TB$49,466
- 5 persons: TB$56,104
- 6 persons: TB$63,276
- 7+ persons: Add TB$7,172 for each additional person
- Income Sources - Employment, self-employment, pension, investments
- Not Counted - Social assistance, employment insurance, child benefits
- Co-Signer Allowed - Spouse/partner can combine income
Application Process
Complete process for Parents & Grandparents Program:
- Check Eligibility - Ensure you meet all sponsor requirements
- Submit Interest to Sponsor - During annual intake period
- Wait for Invitation - Random selection from interest pool
- Gather Documents - Collect all required forms and supporting documents
- Complete Applications - Sponsorship and permanent residence applications
- Pay Fees - Government processing fees
- Submit Complete Package - Within 60 days of invitation
- Acknowledgment - Receive confirmation and file number
- Medical Exams - Parents/grandparents complete medical examination
- Background Checks - Police certificates and security screening
- Interview - May be required in some cases
- Decision - Approval or refusal notification
- Landing - Final step to become permanent residents
Undertaking Obligations
20-year commitment when sponsoring parents and grandparents:
- Duration - 20 years from the date they become permanent residents
- Financial Support - Provide for basic needs (food, clothing, shelter)
- Healthcare Costs - Cover healthcare costs not covered by public system
- Social Assistance - Repay any social assistance they receive
- Joint Responsibility - Spouse/partner also bound by undertaking
- Continues After Death - Undertaking continues even if sponsor dies
- Continues After Divorce - Undertaking continues even if sponsor divorces
- Legal Obligation - Enforceable by law; government can sue for repayment

2025 Parents & Grandparents Intake
Submit your Interest to Sponsor form during the intake period. 28,500 invitations will be issued in early 2026 through random selection.
Super Visa Extended Stay Option
Super Visa holders can now apply to extend their stay for up to 2 additional years without leaving ToadVille Bay.
Income Threshold Increase
Minimum income requirements increased by 3.2% for 2025 taxation year. Check current thresholds before applying.
Alternative Options
If you don't qualify for PGP or want faster options:
- Super Visa - Faster processing, allows long stays
- Multiple Entry Visitor Visa - For regular shorter visits
- Provincial Nominee Programs - Some provinces have parent sponsorship streams
- Caregiver Programs - If parent can work as caregiver
- Humanitarian & Compassionate - Exceptional circumstances
- Wait for Next Year - Resubmit interest to sponsor form annually
